Participant Testimonial

Starting in May 2025, I participated in a 12-week Artist's Way group facilitated by Nicole Schrag. The group has been life-changing for me, allowing me to gain the clarity and courage to take actions I would not have taken without this course. From advocating for myself in personal relationships to embarking on a new career, I have blossomed by following The Artist's Way program. During this process, Nicole led weekly group Zoom meetings where participants discussed the successes and pitfalls we were encountering during this 12-week program. Nicole provided her perspective and shared her own personal experiences in a way that deepened our discussions and enhanced my experience. She is clear, encouraging, insightful, and approachable. Nicole is a skilled facilitator who provides fruitful direction in our weekly zoom meetings and via her group texts in between meetings. I highly recommend Nicole as a facilitator for the Artist's Way or any similar group.

Artist Way Groups

The Artist’s Way is the best-selling 1992 book by Julia Cameron, a writer, film director, and celebrated teacher of creativity. It contains everything you need for a twelve-week “course” intended to help artists – professional and avocational – creatively “unblock.” This book has helped thousands of people (including myself!) to live more intentionally and more creatively.

You can absolutely go through this book on your own. I did it solo the first couple of times that I went through The Artist’s Way. But it is a differently rich and rewarding experience to do it with others on the same journey.

For the past three years, I’ve been coordinating groups that go through The Artist’s Way, and I have absolutely loved it. This fall, I’m going to be offering two courses (at $249 for the “semester,” each course capped at 12 participants):

Everyone brings their own style to the course, and my philosophy is to emphasize self-compassion and patience: any good thing – any creative action or day of writing morning pages or insight that you wouldn’t have done or had without the course – is a win! Anything that you don’t have time to do or miss is just water under the bridge. You can always come back to the course again (many people do!), or be grateful for whatever you got from it and move on to whatever is next. Beating ourselves up is not allowed!

The first meeting (August 29 for AW or August 27 for AW for Parents) is free to join, and you can decide after that day if you want to pay to do the full course. At that introductory meeting, we will do introductions and talk through the “basic tools.” You can email me at nicoleiversonschrag [at] gmail [dot] com or contact me through my website to ask any questions, to get a Zoom link, and / or to register.
